Exeze Rider Waterproof MP3 Player

My computer says my MP3 player is corrupt!

This can happen if the MP3 player has not been removed correctly using the safely remove hardware function of your operating system.

To fix this problem sometimes a reboot of your computer is enough. If a reboot does not work you will need to format the MP3 player using the file system FAT (FAT16 or FAT32) – follow the standard procedure for formatting of USB drives on your operating system. Note that all data previously stored on the MP3 player will be lost during a format.

The MP3 player is not responding - can I reset it?

Yes, you can reset your MP3 Player by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds.

How do I fit the earphones properly?

  1. Before first use you will need to turn the earbuds 90° to the earloops,
  2. fit the earloops around your ears with the cable to the back of the ear,
  3. insert the earbuds into your ears.

How do you recommend securing the MP3 player during swimming?

The best way to secure the MP3 player is to attach it to the strap of a pair of swimming goggles or to the shoulder of a swimming suite. To avoid drag which may pull the earphones out of your ears please tuck the earphone cable under the swimming goggle strap.

I have lost my USB cable or earphones – can I buy new ones?

Yes, contact Exeze Support. We ship spare parts to all countries where our MP3 players are sold.

Do I have to install any drivers on my computer to use the Exeze Rider?

The Exeze Rider MP3 player is compatible with all versions of Mac OS X, all recent versions of Windows and Linux. There is no need to install any special drivers or apps as the Exeze Rider behaves like a standard USB drive when connected to a computer.

How do I copy my audio files to the Exeze Rider?

To copy files to the Exeze Rider then please follow these steps:

  1. Connect the Exeze Rider to the computer using the included USB cable. Once connected then the Exeze Rider should show up as an external drive that can be located using Explorer on Windows or Finder on Mac.
  2. Locate your MP3 files.
  3. Drag the mp3 files onto the Exeze Rider external drive.

If you are using iTunes then you can drag your files directly from the iTunes window onto the Exeze Rider external drive, however this requires that your files are in MP3 format. If you want to know how to convert your files to mp3 format in iTunes then follow Apple's support article HT204310: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204310

How do I copy my audio files from iTunes to the Exeze Rider?

If you purchased your music in iTunes they are likely copy protected and will need converting since Apple are using their own proprietary music format. The same applies if you copied the music into iTunes from your own CD's. Luckily it is easy to convert the music into MP3 format in a few steps.

If you are using iTunes then to convert your files to MP3 format then follow Apple's support article HT204310: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204310

How do I create playlists on the Exeze Rider?

The Exeze Rider MP3 player does not have support for playlists like they exist in e.g. iTunes, but the way it works in short is that it plays the files in the order they were copied onto the MP3 player.

The playlists on the Exeze Rider MP3 player works as follows.

No folders

  • If the audio files on the MP3 player are stored without using any folders then the audio files are played in the order they were copied onto the MP3 player.

Using folders

  • If the audio files are stored in folders then the MP3 player plays the audio files within each folder in the order they were copied onto the MP3 player,
  • once all the files in a folder have been played then the audio files in the next folder are played.
  • The folders are played in the order the folders were created.

Does the Exeze Rider continue playing where it was when it was turned off?

When you turn on the Exeze Rider MP3 player then the MP3 player continues playing where it was when you turned it off. However, if the battery runs out or if the files on the MP3 player are changed then it may start from the beginning.

Why can I not turn my Exeze Rider on?

If there are no playable files stored on the Exeze Rider then it will shut itself off automatically. Also, if the earphones are not inserted properly then the Exeze Rider will also shut itself off automatically.

Please make sure that the audio files are in mp3 format without any copy protection, and that the earphones are fully inserted into the earphone jack. Then firmly press and hold the play button for a few seconds until the indicator light comes on.

Why is the Exeze Rider not playing my audio files?

The possible reasons for this are;

  1. The MP3 player is not turned on - if the LED near the on/off button lights up then it is turned on,
  2. the volume has been turned down - turn it up by pressing and holding the + button firmly a couple of seconds,
  3. the earphones have not been inserted properly - please make sure the earphones have been inserted firmly into the mp3 player unit,
  4. the music files are not in MP3 format - please make sure they are in MP3 format and does not have any copy protection (DRM),
  5. the earphones or the MP3 player is broken.

The problem we hear about the most is that the music files are not in MP3 format, and since most of our customers appear to be using iTunes I am including details of how to convert the music to mp3 format in iTunes.

If you purchased your music in iTunes they are likely copy protected and will need converting since Apple are using their own proprietary music format. The same applies if you copied the music into iTunes from your own CD's. Luckily it is easy to convert the music to MP3 format in a few steps.

If you are using iTunes as most of our customers seem to do then to convert your files to MP3 format follow Apple's support article HT204310: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204310

If the MP3 player has attempted to play a file which is not in MP3 format it can sometimes lock up and then it may have to be reset to start working again. Reset the MP3 player by pressing and holding the Reset button for 10 seconds (this resets the MP3 player processor only, it does not erase any data stored on the MP3 player).

How can I convert all my audio files to mp3 format?

If you are using iTunes then this is achieved by following the instructions in Apple's support article HT204310 https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204310, multiple files can be converted at the same time.

There are many other audio processing software solutions that can convert multiple files at a time, a Internet search using the keywords "mp3 converter comparison" will provide many options.

Why did my computer tell me that I removed the MP3 player in an unsafe way?

When attaching the MP3 player to your computer then the MP3 player works just like a standard USB drive. When you plug in a USB drive, you give your operating system free reign to write and read data from it; some of which may be cached.

Caching occurs by not writing information immediately to the USB device, and instead keeping it in your computer's memory (RAM). Also, when writing to disk the computer doesn't always "flush" a disk write buffer and only part of the data may have been written. If you were to yank the USB drive out of your computer before this information is written, or while its being written, you'll end up with a corrupted USB drive.

If you have deleted files from the USB drive they may actually not have been deleted but only moved to the trash can and the files would not be removed until the trash can is emptied or the USB drive is safely removed (depending on how your operating system works). If the USB drive is not removed safely the files may be taking up space on your USB drive without being visible.

Safely removing hardware / Ejecting causes the files to close "gracefully", preserving data, pointers and file size indicators. Using the proper procedure will assure that the data and pointers are in good shape and all your data is safely stored until you need them again.

My computer says my MP3 player is corrupt!

This can happen if the MP3 player has not been removed correctly - see the previous question for details how this could have happened and how it can be avoided.

To fix this problem you will need to format the MP3 player using the file system FAT32. Note that all data previously stored on the MP3 player will be lost during a format. When attaching the MP3 player to your computer then the MP3 player works just like a standard USB drive. Formatting instructions for USB drives (thus works also for the MP3 player):

There is software to recover data from corrupted drives, but Exeze does not provide any such software or service so you will need to search the Internet should you require it.

The MP3 player is not detected by my computer

It is important that the USB cable is inserted firmly into the MP3 player before attaching it to the computer. If the light of the MP3 player goes on when attaching it to the computer then the USB cable is attached properly and the MP3 player should be visible just like a standard USB drive on your computer.

If this does not solve your problem there might be a driver problem on your computer. When attaching the MP3 player to your computer then the MP3 player works just like a standard USB drive, see these links for common USB drive problems and solutions:

The MP3 player is not responding - can I reset it?

The MP3 player can stop responding if for example a MP3 file is corrupt. To reset the MP3 player then follow these steps:

  1. Remove the earphones / USB cable from the MP3 player.
  2. Insert the reset pin into the earphone socket and hold it depressed for 10 seconds.

The reset pin is the small plastic pin included with the MP3 player at the time of sale, it is packeted in a small plastic bag together with the extra ear buds. If you do not have the reset pin at hand then any thin pin about 20mm in length that fits into the socket will do.

How do you recommend securing the MP3 player during swimming?

The best way to secure the MP3 player is to attach it to the strap of a pair of swimming goggles. Swimming goggles with a custom made 21 mm wide strap are available from our Amazon.co.uk store.

Click here to view the MP3 section of our Amazon.co.uk store.

Are the Exeze WMR 1st and 2nd Generations compatible?

If you purchased your EXEZE WMR MP3 player during 2016 or later then you have the 2nd Generation with a 3.5mm standard audio socket.

If you purchased your EXEZE WMR MP3 player during 2014 or earlier then you have the 1st Generation type with a 2.5mm screw-in earphone socket.

Exeze Pico 5 FM Transmitter

What does it do?

It transmits your music from your iPhone/iPod/iPad in High Fidelity Stereo to any FM receiver enabling you to listen to your music in your car, in your home, on the beach, or just anywhere there is an FM radio.

Which devices is it compatible with?

It is designed for the iPod nano 5G, iPod classic all models, iPad, and the iPhone 3G and newer.

It will also work with iPod nano 4G and iPod nano 6G, however, the design does not match so there will be an awkward fit.

How do I use it?

  1. Snap on the FM transmitter to your iPhone / iPod / iPad and play music.
  2. Tune your FM radio receiver to an unused (blank) frequency channel and adjust the volume.
  3. Set the frequency of the FM transmitter to the same frequency as for your receiver to enjoy your music in HIFI Stereo.

Where can I buy it?

What if I can not find any unused frequency?

This is the case in some densely populated areas and then it will not work. If you try anyway there will be static and distortions disturbing the listening experience.

While driving, static and distortions occur after a while / intermittently

Static and distortions occur when the FM Transmitter and another radio station are transmitting on the same frequency. Since different radio stations cover different areas then you can experience static and distortions when driving into an area where there is a radio station transmitting on the same frequency as the FM Transmitter is transmitting on, even though everything worked fine at the start of the journey.

To fix the problem switch to another frequency:

  1. Tune your FM radio receiver to an unused (blank) frequency channel.
  2. Set the frequency of the FM Transmitter to the same frequency as for your receiver.

How far does it transmit?

Up to 10 meters.

When there are objects between the FM Transmitter and the receiver the range is reduced depending on how high the radio wave interference is. For the best listening experience then make sure there are no objects between the FM Transmitter and the receiver.

I can not hear my music due to static and distortions

Solution 1 - change frequency:

Static and distortions occur when the FM Transmitter and another radio station are transmitting on the same frequency.

To fix the problem switch to another frequency:

  1. Tune your FM radio receiver to an unused (blank) frequency channel.
  2. Set the frequency of the FM Transmitter to the same frequency as for your receiver.

Solution 2 - move the FM Transmitter

Static and distortions can also occur due to the objects around you. If changing frequency does not work then you can try moving the FMT5 to another location since objects surrounding the FM Transmitter and the receiver can interfere with the radio signals the FM Transmitter is transmitting.

When in a car the best location is often some distance away from the radio antenna depending on the make of the car and the car’s radio interference properties.

What audio files does it work with?

Any that your iPod / iPhone / iPad can play. The FM Transmitter will transmit any audio that your iPod / iPhone / iPad generates from any source - from MP3 files, video files, streaming radio stations, etc.

Is there a guarantee?

The FM Transmitter is sold with a one year manufacturer’s guarantee. If your FM Transmitter malfunctions due to manufacturing errors you are eligible for a free repair or replacement.

Contact Exeze Support for the exact procedure how to file guarantee claims. Click here to contact Exeze Support.

Is it legal?

Yes.

The model sold in the EU has been certified and approved for use in the entire EU (CE). The model sold in North America is FCC certified.

Exeze Pico Chrome USB Drive

What does it do?

When connected to a computer it works like a hard drive where you can store your music, pictures, videos, etc. The data is retained after it has been detached from the computer so you can plug it in again in the same computer or another computer to access your data. Ideal for people on the go who are using several computers.

Which computers / operating systems is it compatible with?

It is compatible with any USB 1.1, 2.0 or 3.0 capable computer. You can use it without any driver installation on most modern computers - just pop it into a USB socket and off you go. Operating systems where it works out of the box:

Is it really waterproof?

Yes.

It has been designed and tested to withstand more than a week at a time soaked in water in up to 10 meters depth (10 meters is approximately 32 feet or 11 yards). Note that if the USB drive is wet then before use it needs to be dried with paper or a towel, otherwise the water will cause a short cut and the USB drive and the computer where it is inserted will be damaged.

Do not use a blow dryer to dry the USB drive and do not artificially heat the USB drive in any way since this may damage the electronics inside and render the USB drive unusable.

Why did my computer tell me that I removed the USB drive in an unsafe way?

When you plug in a USB drive, you give your operating system free reign to write and read data from it; some of which may be cached.

Caching occurs by not writing information immediately to the USB device, and instead keeping it in your computer's memory (RAM). If you have deleted files from the USB drive they may actually not have been deleted but only moved to the trash can and the files would not be removed until the trash can is emptied or the USB drive is safely removed (depending on how your operating system works). Safely removing hardware / Ejecting causes the files to close "gracefully", preserving data, pointers and file size indicators. Using the proper procedure will assure that the data and pointers are in good shape and all your data is safely stored until you need them again.

If your USB drive has been corrupted you can fix it by following the instructions in the next question below.

My computer says my USB drive is corrupt!

Why is there plastic or a sticker on the USB drive?

There is a thin plastic cover on one side of the USB drive and it is there to protect the USB drive during transport. This plastic can safely be removed to expose the finely finished surface below.

There is also a sticker indicating the size of the USB drive. This sticker is used during the inventory management and packaging process and it can also safely be removed if you so wish.
